Success Story: Brett Kelly

Brett began attending sessions with our trainer Levi in March 2016. He came to us hoping to lose 60 pounds and feel more energized.

After losing an amazing 40 lbs, Brett was kind enough to take the time to answer a few questions for us about our program and his time with us so far!


When did you first join SmartFit?

Brett: I joined in March 2016 and have been visiting SmartFit for 6 months.

What is your favourite part of the workouts?

Brett: My favourite part is that Levi always mixes up our workouts. What we do in a session changes on a regular basis so it keeps it interesting and prevents the workouts from becoming boring. Going from high rep workouts to 5×5 workouts is a nice change of pace and helps ensure that you don’t get stuck in a rut.

Have you tried other nutrition plans in the past? If so, is the SmartFit nutrition plan different than you’ve done before?

Brett: It actually worked out pretty well, as the SmartFit plan was very similar to what I had used in the past to lose weight effectively. I found it very simple to stick to as I already naturally gravitated towards the types of foods that are allowed in it. 

What has been your favourite part of the SmartFit program as a whole?

Brett: My favourite part is actually having a routine that I know I will stick to. In the past, half the battle has just been leaving the house to go to the gym. Having scheduled sessions makes it much easier to commit to going to the gym. 

What were your goals before you began with us?

Brett: My initial goal was to lose 60 pounds. 

Have your goals been met and/or surpassed in your time with us?

Brett: While I haven’t reached my goal yet, I’m well on my way to reaching my goal of 60 total pounds lost on schedule. 

When and in what ways did you first start to see results?

Brett: The first thing I noticed was having more energy. I was not nearly as lethargic or tired after I began working with Levi on a regular basis. 

Have you experienced any positive benefits from working with SmartFit besides weightloss?

Brett: I’ve noticed that I’ve been able to get much stronger in my time working with Levi than I ever did when working by myself. I find it makes a huge difference to have someone there to push you. 

Do you have any advice for individuals considering joining us?

Brett: Do it. I’ve never had a day where I dread going to work out since I’ve been coming to SmartFit – something I had a lot of when I went to the gym by myself. I couldn’t recommend it any more.
